Elemental Shaman 4.3

Patch 4.3 has offered up a intresting collection of changes for Elemental Shamans 4.3. Although our basic rotaion and stats have remained unchanged, the minor alterations have had a greater impact than expected. (more details on patch 4.3′s changes to Elemetal Shaman 4.3)

As with 4.2 Elemental Shamans power comes from our teir set bonus, which thanks to LFR is obtainable by all (its just a matter of luck). Unfortunatly unless you have your 4 set bonus your elemental shamans dps will be uner-par compared to other dps classes in similar iLevel gear.

Elemental Shaman 4.3 Rotaion.

Single target

  1. Flame Shock – this is priority one. Even though its not a big damage dealer on its own its buff is a must for Lava burst.
  2. Lava Burst – this is our big hitter and should be used as soon as its of Cooldown (only if Flame Shoch is up)
  3. Earth Shock – with 7+ Lighting shield charges and if Flame Shock has more than 6sec remaining on target
  4. Lightning Bolt – The bread and butter of our rotation. this will help build lighting shield charges and restoring mana every cast.

Long Cooldowns and Totems

Elemental Shaman 4.3

Elemental Mastery – this should be used just before you cast your first Lava Burst and then again as soon as its of Cooldown

As far as totems go it depends on your group raid set up but you will always no matter what have Searing Totem active and Fire Elemental Totem used on cooldown – on long fights i like to drop this at the start and then close to the end of the fight.

AOE Mob/Boss Fights

EarthQuake – thanks to this no longer being a channeled spell and damage increas this is a major aoe spell.

Chain Lighting – No longer has a CoolDown for Elemental Shamans, making it a fst spamable aoe spell. it should be noted tha tit is possible to mix chain lighting into your single target rotaion instead of a lighning bolt due to its faster cast time early testing has shown it to generate a higher dps rotaion though mana managment can become an issue.

Elemental Shaman 4.3 Stats

No real change for 4.3 as far as Elemental Shaman stats the only consideration now is with the Teir 13 Four Set Bonus making Mastery boost our haste.

  1. Spell Hit – priority untill the 17% hit cap is reached
  2. Intellect – This is our number one stat – boosts mana and Spell Power. Wher possible all Gem’s (with a socet bonus lower than 30 int) should be Intellect gems and all chants where available should be Intellect.
  3. Haste – This is our really DPS booster stat. After Intellect you want as much haste as possible
  4. Mastery – Close contender to Haste (perfect gear has haste + mastery stats)
  5. Crit – We dont want crit ever.

Reforging Rule

Elemental Shaman 4.3

Step 1: Spell Hit 17%
If you are not at or above 17%, on any gear without Hit/Spirit, reforge the weakest stat (see stat priority) into Spirit or Hit. Spirit and Hit Rating increase spell hit equally. Reforge your gear for Spirit/Hit until you are at or slightly above 17%.

Step 2: Haste
If a gear item does not have Haste, reforge the weakest stat (see stat priority) into Haste. Be sure not to lose your 17% Hit Cap though.

Step 3: Check Gear for Mastery
If a gear item has Haste but no Mastery, reforge the weakest stat (Crit or excessive amounts of Hit) into Mastery.

Patch 4.3 Shaman changes and more

patch 4.3

Patch 4.3

Well its almost here Patch 4.3 should be going live this week (Nov 29/30th) and as patches goo this is the big one. Patch 4.3 will included the final challenge in Cataclysm and our first chance to really bring the hurt on Deathwing himself.

Patch 4.3 will also include a lot of new features many of which are paving the way for the already announced 5th expansion ‘mists of pandaria’ (Patch 5.0). Including 18 new mounts, 15 new pets, 3 new 5 man instances the Well of Eternity, Hour of Twilight, and End Time all located in the Caverns of Time. The Darkmoon faire now has its own island accessable via portals at the old locations. The big aesthetic change will be in the form of Transmogrification. This will allow players to make their gear look like older tiers they have previously had via the transmogrification vendor.

As for geawe have a full list of 4.3′s Valor point rewards, the Dragon Soul Raid Loot List and the new Legendary rogue daggers Golad, Twilight of Aspects and Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages.

As for PvP there will be some major changes see blue post below:

Our intent is to start acting even more on our Mists of Pandaria philosophies of encouraging players to approach the content they want to, how they want to, and be able to work toward meaningful player progression. Arenas and rated battlegrounds will still earn Conquest faster, but with this change you can now work your way up by running normal BGs, if you so choose.

On top of all that all classes have had some major changes and non less than the Shamans.

Shaman Changes

  • Flametongue Weapon no longer increases spell damage. It now increases all non-physical damage done by the wielder by 5%.
  • Lightning Bolt has a new spell effect.
  • Wind Shear’s base cooldown has been adjusted to 15 seconds, up from 6 seconds.

Elemental Shaman Changes Patch 4.3

  • Call of Flame no longer causes Fire Nova to extend the duration of Flame Shock.
  • Earthquake damage has been increased by roughly 75%.
  • Elemental Fury now removes the cooldown from Chain Lightning.
  • Reverberation now reduces the cooldown of Wind Shear by 5/10 seconds, up from 0.5/1 second.
  • Shamanism now increases the spell power benefit to Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst, and Chain Lightning by 36%, up from 32%.

Enhancement Shaman Changes Patch 4.3

  • Improved Lava Lash now causes Lava Lash to spread a Flame Shock debuff from the target to up to 4 nearby targets. This excludes crowd-controlled targets and those who already have a Flame Shock debuff from the shaman.
  • Improved Lava Lash no longer increases base Lava Lash damage by 15/30%. This increase has been rolled into the base Lava Lash skill.
  • Mental Quickness has been redesigned. Instead of granting the shaman spell power, Mental Quickness now causes Enhancement shaman spells to behave as though the shaman has spell power equal to 55% of attack power. Enhancement shaman spells no longer benefit from spell power from other sources.
  • Maelstrom Weapon can now also proc from fully absorbed melee attacks.

Restoration Shaman Changes Patch 4.3

  • Ancestral Healing now also causes the shaman’s heals to increase the target’s maximum health by 5/10% of the amount healed, up to a maximum of 10% of the target’s maximum health, for 15 seconds. This effect does not stack if multiple Restoration shaman are present, and does not apply to heals from procs.
  • Riptide’s periodic healing coefficient has been increased by 50%. The initial direct heal is unchanged.

Once Patch 4.3 goes live we will be updating our spell and ability guides along with the latest Glyph and talent specc’s for Elemental, restoration and enhancement.
